J Jordan is the owner and baker at Brown Rice Bakery, a 100% gluten free and vegan cottage
bakery founded on values of community, health, sustainability and joy. J is a self-taught baker,
focused on expanding the representation and perception of high quality food.

With a deep passion for food and a background in environmental, food and farm advocacy, J
prioritizes using organic ingredients and 99% plant-based, compostable or recyclable packaging
when possible. They practice low-waste and often incorporate local, seasonal produce into each
bake, with rotating specialty flavors. They often work with local, underrepresented, small-scale
farmers and love partnering with other local chefs and small businesses to celebrate the
diversity of plants, people and cuisines.

J is also the founder and organizer of GATHER, a monthly popup dinner series celebrating
cuisine, culture & community. GATHER highlights rotating local, up-and-coming Black,
Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), queer and other under- and mis-represented chefs
and food artists. Each month, J partners with guest chefs to showcase their culinary creativity
and culture through these curated dining experiences.
