Jamie Rathburn is the Chef de Cuisine at Ella Dining Room and Bar in downtown Sacramento where she offers her love to the Sacramento community in the form of thoughtfully crafted food.

She brings 12 years of kitchen experience to her role at Ella as well as a deep desire to change the world through compassion and food.

Jamie developed a love of baking as a child but didn’t arrive at cooking as a career until, while studying to become a nurse, she realized her desire to help people heal would be most authentically expressed through food.

She graduated from culinary school with a focus on pastry and eventually worked her way into a double Sous/Pastry Chef position at Paragary’s under the mentorship of Ryan O’Malley. In 2019, Jamie took a position as a line cook at Ella to learn more about the savory side of cooking and has worked her way into a leadership role ever since.

When Ella’s kitchen closed during the pandemic, Jamie pioneered an ice cream delivery business to continue serving joy to her community. She developed innovative and comforting flavors which she crafted and packed in her own kitchen before hand delivering them to people’s doorsteps. She donated profits from each pint sold to nonprofit organizations working in the Sacramento community.

Now, she harnesses the dedication and tenacity she learned from watching her mother and grandmother in their own kitchens and works diligently to deliver delight, compassion, and love to those who eat her cooking.
